LTLS has 118 member libraries: 7 academic,
53 public, 42 school, and 16 special libraries.
LTLS receives funding from grants
from the Secretary of State's office through funds appropriated by the Illinois General Assembly.
LTLS is one of nine multitype
library systems that cover the geographical
area of the State of Illinois.
LTLS supports library service to 431,229
residents in 9 counties in
East Central Illinois (Champaign, Clark, Coles, Douglas, Edgar, Ford,
Iroquois, Piatt, and Vermilion).
LTLS supports the following services:
Interlibrary Loan, Internet Access, Consulting, Continuing Education,
Training, Delivery, Reciprocal Borrowing, Shared Cataloging, Shared
Online Catalog (LINC), AskAway (Virtual Reference), MyMediaMall
(e-books/downloadable audiobooks), Digital Gems (digitized materials),
PolyTalk Interpreters Network, and Communications Services.
LTLS supports an online
catalog of over 105 individual academic,
public, school, and special library buildings for over 240,000
registered patrons.
LTLS' delivery service annually delivers
over 800,000 books, photocopy articles, dvds, recorded books,
and other materials between and among libraries in East Central
Illinois.
LTLS, along with the Illinois State
Library and Secretary of State Live and Learn funds, supports
access to FirstSearch™ databases for
member libraries. From July 2007 through June 2008, more than 1,215,000
searches were done by citizens and librarians in the LTLS area.
LTLS supports patron and library initiated interlibrary
borrowing--over 675,000 transactions from July 2007 through
June 2008.
LTLS' shared automated database, LINC
(Libraries IN Cooperation), contains over 2.3 million individual
items.
LTLS provides continuing
education and training programs; 22
continuing education and 42 training programs were provided for
714 people from July 2007 through June 2008.
LTLS offers electronic
access to the LINC database for all
member libraries and the public through the Internet.
More than 3.8 million connections were made from July 2007 through
June 2008.
LTLS' staff makes over 1,600 contacts
with personnel in member libraries annually.

LTLS services help libraries stretch
