- The Giertz Education Center is dedicated to the integration of art appreciation
and art history into humanities and science instruction at all levels,
from preschool through college. Its collection of over 3,000 art and cultural
objects and instructional materials includes reproductions of art objects,
poster prints, video recordings, slide sets, hands-on kits and books; all
materials are available for free loan to educators, community groups, and
individuals. The collection is based on the conviction that art can help
students better understand the human experience and human aspirations,
from different periods and cultural settings. Located on the basement level
of the Krannert Art Museum, the education center opened in 1992.
