The winner of the 2006 Abe Award is Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper with 177 votes.  In a close second place with 173 votes was The Kite Runner, and in third place with 108 votes was The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things.  1,503 students voted, which is up from last year by over 100.  Next year, students will need to read only 4 books to vote, instead of the current 5. The new list will be out in March instead of May, giving participants 6-8 weeks of extra reading time for the 2007 award.
