Free diversity workshops and events will be presented by Lincoln Trail Libraries System in February, March, April, and May--made possible by an LSTA grant entitled "Diversity and Cultural Competency in Rural Libraries: A Multi-System Initiative." This grant has been funded for the second year and expands last year's grant to three other regional systems: Lewis & Clark, Rolling Prairie, and Shawnee. The Illinois State Library is coordinating a statewide virtual reference project with Wisconsin and Illinois libraries. Applications for stipends to support graduate study in library and information science in 2006-2008 are now available through the Association of Research Libraries’ (ARL) Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce. Funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the program offers a stipend of up to $10,000. Applications are due June 21, 2006.
