Free diversity workshops and events will be presented by Lincoln Trail Libraries System in February, March, April, and May--made possible by an LSTA grant entitled "Diversity and Cultural Competency in Rural Libraries: A Multi-System Initiative."  This grant has been funded for the second year and expands last year's grant to three other regional systems:  Lewis & Clark, Rolling Prairie, and Shawnee.  All LTLS members are invited to attend any of the events.  Please note the dates, times, and locations.  To register, go to http://www.librarydiversity.info/ce.htmlInformation Flyer

The Illinois State Library is coordinating a statewide virtual reference project with Wisconsin and Illinois libraries. 2006 - 60

Applications for stipends to support graduate study in library and information science in 2006-2008 are now available through the Association of Research Libraries’ (ARL) Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce. Funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the program offers a stipend of up to $10,000.  Applications are due June 21, 2006. The Fourth International Conference On The Book will be held at Emerson College in Boston on October 20-22, 2006. The deadline for the next round in the call for papers (a title and short abstract) is February 28, 2006.  For details, go to http://www.Book-Conference.com.
