OverDrive Demo - March 9, 2005 -- 9:00
LINC Policy Council – March 16 --1:30

2005 - 030 NO MORE VIDEO PREVIEWING!
At the 2/23/2005 meeting of the LTLS Cataloging Center libraries, it was announced that libraries using the LTLS Cataloging Center for cataloging no longer need to preview videos or dvd’s before sending them to the LTLS Cataloging Center. Be sure to send the container and accompanying information with each video or dvd; however, there is no longer a need to preview the video/dvd and fill out the preview form. If you have questions about this change in procedure, email Maria Nowak, mnowak@lincolntrail.info

2005 - 031 HORIZON RESPONSE TIME TEST
As part of the final approval of the Horizon software, LTLS will be coordinating a ‘response time’ test of the software. We need 10 volunteers to come to LTLS, use the Horizon software for different functions, and record the time involved for each transaction. It will likely take 3 hours to perform the tests. If you are interested in helping us with this process, please send an email Rita Johnson, rjohns@lincolntrail.info. A date will be set once a list of volunteers is compiled.

2005 - 032 UPDATED HOLDINGS IN WORLDCAT
LTLS has updated the holdings of LINC libraries in WorldCat for items added or deleted from October through December 2004. Files of new and deleted holdings have been sent and processed by OCLC. The two files and number of records processed are listed below:
Added holdings - 26,618
Deleted holdings - 8,267
The January through March 2005 files will be sent shortly after April 1.

2005 - 033 DELETING BIBS IN HORIZON

When you delete an item record in Horizon for a particular bibliographic record and no other library owns the item, you are responsible for also deleting the bibliographic record.

In Horizon, the deletion of the bibliographic record happens automatically during batch item deletion but not when you are deleting an individual item from the copy/item screen. LTLS strongly recommends that you use the batch item delete process rather than deleting an item individually. Batch item delete can be used for one or more items, simply by scanning in the individual barcode, selecting the items to be deleted, and choosing ‘delete’. When the batch item delete options window appears, make sure ‘delete bib’ and ‘save deletions to discard table’ are checked before deleting all records. The bib will automatically be deleted through this process if yours is the last copy.

However, if you choose to delete an item individually by going through the copy/item screen and it is the last one attached to that bibliographic record, follow the instructions in this handout to complete the process of removing the bibliographic record as well.

2005 - 034 THANKS TO LIBRARIES WHO ARE NOW MAILING HOLD NOTICES
Thanks to several libraries who have switched from ‘phoning’ holds notices to ‘mail’. This will provide better service to patrons who will now get hold notices regardless of which pickup location they select. If your library wishes to make this switch, send an email to Pat Boze, pboze@lincolntrail.info.

2005 - 035 LINC UPDATE QUIZ

Be the first person to correctly answer this question and receive a prize!

"Where do I find out more information about Bookmarklet?"

If you think you have the correct answer, email Amanda McKay..

Congratulations to Laura Dayton of the Catlin School District who correctly responded that changing your email password in LTNet is the way to ensure continued access to WebMail. For a complete description of this process, go here and look for item 2004-025.
