UPCOMING MEETINGS |
Local Holds Committee – February 17

| 2005 - 013 | NEW BESTSELLER LISTS |
| Thanks to the technical services staff at Champaign Public Library, we now have some additional Bestseller Lists available in Horizon and LINCPac. Four of the new lists are based on the total number of requests, by patrons in the LTLS service area, for either adult fiction, adult nonfiction, DVD’s, or CD’s. Two ALA Award lists are also now available - the Robert F. Sibert International Book Award 2005 and the Schneider Family Book Award 2005. | |
| 2005 - 014 | CALL NUMBER TABLES COMMITTEE |
| LINC Policy Council has requested the formation of a committee to study the large number of call number tables in the Horizon software. Call number tables are used for statistics only. Libraries use call number tables to track the amount of circulation in particular areas of the Dewey or LC classification schemes. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please email Pat Boze, pboze@lincolntrail.info. | |
| 2005 - 015 | HOLD NOTICES |
| If you generate your library’s notices in the morning and then continue to ‘pop’ holds throughout the day at checkin, you can generate notices again in the afternoon for just those holds (there will not be any overdue notices generated when this is done the second time). These can then be emailed or mailed to patrons at the end of the day, decreasing the amount of time it takes to get the hold notices out to patrons. | |

| 2005 - 016 | PRICE FIELD AT CHECKIN |
| The price field for an item has now been added to the ‘Edit Item’ screen at checkin. This is a non-editable field but it can be helpful in determining damage charges at checkin if needed. | |
| 2005 - 017 | LINCPAC TEST |
| The LINCPac Enhancements Committee recommended some design
changes to the web catalog at the January LINC Policy Council meeting.
Although LINC Policy Council has not acted on the recommendations yet,
a test version of the changes is available at: http://209.174.169.34:8080/ipac20/ipac.jsp?profile=ltn-test. Primary changes include two new search subtabs, one for print and one for other format (Basic, Media). Also, drop-down search indexes are replaced with ‘boxes’ for each search option that is available. If you have any comments about these proposed changes, please email Karen Hackman, hackmaka@champaignschools.org.
| 2005 - 018 | PHONING FOR HOLDS |
| If you currently have Horizon configured at your agency to phone patrons when a hold arrives, we recommend that you consider changing this agency-wide setting to ‘mail’ instead. This agency-wide setting generates phone notices only for items that are received and checked in at your library. If your patron asks for pickup at another library, they will never receive a hold notice. When the agency-wide setting for hold notices is set to mail, hold notices then print out as part of your daily notices, both for items the patron receives at your library and items the patron receives at another library. Please contact Pat Boze, pboze@lincolntrail.info, to discuss making this change for your agency. | |
| 2005 - 019 | LINC MILESTONE |
| On January 31, the high school of St. Thomas More began circulating online with LINC. Congratulations to Diane Hirning for her hard work in reaching this goal! | |
| 2005 - 020 | LINC UPDATE QUIZ |
Be the first person to correctly answer this question and receive a prize! "How can I find out when the next training opportunity is and what is the title of that program?" If you think you have the correct answer, email Amanda McKay at amckay@lincolntrail.info Congratulations to Mary Wilkes Towner of the Urbana Free Library who correctly identified http://www.ltls.org/ltlsmap.html as the correct location for finding a map of the LTLS system.
