The Lincoln Trail Libraries System is committed to assisting member libraries in identifying and applying for grants to enhance library services. The following links are intended to enable library staff to locate relevant grant opportunities.

•Illinois State Library Grant Offerings
This site maintained by the Illinois State Library (ISL) provides current information about state and federal grants administered by ISL: FY 2007 LSTA Grant Offering

Grants available in FY 2007:
-Bridging the gap between community and collection
-Bring in a trainer
-Digital Imaging
-Emerging technologies and methodologies
-Demonstration of public library services
-Developing a statewide technology toolkit

Letters of Intent must be submitted by April 19, 2006 and the full application by May 19, 2006.

Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Grant
Provides grant assistance to eligible Illinois public libraries.

Public School Library Per Capita Grant
Provides grant assistance to eligible Illinois public school libraries.

•U. S. Department of Education
Improving Literacy Through School Libraries Program. Apply by April 11, 2006.

•Illinois State Board of Education
ISBE provides a listing of Requests For Proposal (RFP) and State / Federal Grant Opportunities.

•Gates Library Initiative
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has established a Library Program to work with public libraries to provide access to computers, the Internet and digital information for patrons in low-income communities. 

Institute of Museum and Library Services
IMLS is an independent federal agency that supports innovation and learning through programs and partnerships with all types of museums and all types of libraries. The IMLS Grants and Awards Program offers support for innovative library services projects and for library - museum collaboration projects.

Universal Service Fund
Not specifically a grant program, the FCC Universal Service Fund provides discounts to eligible schools and libraries for the purchase of telecommunications, Internet and internal connections in libraries.
