Once again, hundreds of librarians will descend
upon Springfield, and we want your voice to be heard! On April 19, librarians in
Illinois will converge at the State Capital for Illinois Library Day
2007. Illinois Library Day is a chance for you to meet with your
local legislators and educate them on the issues that are important
to you and your library. Also, because Illinois Library Day is
held during the legislative season, you have a real opportunity
see the legislative process in action and to impact the outcome
in key areas relevant to libraries.
In the recent past, thanks to the hard work
of librarians like you, we have been able to educate legislators
about the importance of libraries and Library Systems and even restore
some funding that had been lost. This is a momentum we don’t
want to lose!
As with past Illinois Library Days, the event
will be an action-packed day that will feature meetings with local
legislators and a march and rally at the Capital building. Lincoln
Trail Libraries System will once again work hard to secure meeting
times with all legislators that represent the territory of LTLS.

your Illinois Library Day experience, you can also check out the
Strategy Session and Dinner hosted by DuPage Library System on April
18. The dinner will
be held at the Northfield Inn and will cost $30.00 per person. Kip
Kolkmeier will be the featured speaker and will brief participants
