NEW POPULATION PROFILE , by LTLS Consultant Donna Schaal

On November 14, 2006, the U. S. Census Bureau released a “New Population Profile” of the United States.  Utilizing the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS), this report provides the latest detailed look at the nation’s rapidly changing and diverse population.

Why should this matter to libraries and the communities they serve?  As part of the Census Bureau’s re-engineered 2010 Census, the data collected by the ACS helps federal officials determine where to distribute more than $200 billion back to state and local governments each year!
